Chow Kon Yeow says Penang DAP takes no stance, leaves Cabinet exit motion to delegates

George Town, Aug 14 — Penang DAP has not formally taken a stance on a motion proposing the party leave the Cabinet, instead entrusting the decision to delegates at the DAP Convention on Sunday. Chow Kon Yeow, a member of the central executive committee, clarified that Penang delegates have received briefings on the motions to be discussed and voted upon during the convention.

He explained that each state approaches the convention differently and that Penang DAP has opted for an open approach. According to him, the state committee held a meeting last Wednesday and decided to leave the decision to the delegates. Speaking at a press conference at the Chief Minister's Office in Komtar, Chow stressed that Penang DAP will not adopt an official stance on the matter.

The DAP Convention is anticipated to serve as a forum for delegates to deliberate and decide on various issues, including the motion concerning DAP's role in the unity government. Chow, who also serves as Penang Pakatan Harapan chairman, reiterated that the motion pertains to whether DAP should withdraw from the Cabinet while maintaining support for the unity government.
