Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly demolishes agency of Sekyedumase Community Bank for 24-Hour Market

The Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region demolished properties, including a branch of the Sekyedumase Community Bank, to create space for its version of the government's 24-Hour Market at Aboabo. The bank alleges the assembly did not permit salvaging from the demolished premises. After blocking the entrance of the agency, the assembly then razed the branch, causing significant losses for the bank.

The bank is managing the situation and serving customers in the Aboabo community. The 24-Hour Markets are among the government's priority projects, and the Assemblies decide appropriate locations for construction. The Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly chose Aboabo, a densely populated area occupied by private homes, artisans, petty traders, and the Sekyedumase Community Bank branch.

The bank sought to integrate its building into the 24-Hour Market, but the Assembly decided against this option. The bank had previously received deadlines to relocate, but missed them, leading to the demolition.
