Anwar to outline PKR’s strategic direction at party congress today

The PKR National Congress 2026 commenced today with party president Anwar Ibrahim set to deliver a policy speech outlining the party's strategic agenda and direction at the event held under the theme "Revitalising Reformasi, Building Madani." The two-day congress, attended by around 2,500 delegates and 3,000 observers from across the nation, aims to strengthen the party's direction while reaffirming the reformasi principles that have underpinned PKR's struggle in the evolving political landscape.

Notable attendees include diplomatic representatives from several major world powers, including the United States, China, Japan, and Australia, along with leaders of local political parties. The congress will feature debate sessions focusing on key issues affecting people, such as the economy, education, and political stability, with 16 speakers representing different states and party wings.

In addition to reinforcing unity within the leadership, the congress seeks to reinforce PKR's commitment to integrity, social justice, and championing the interests of vulnerable groups. The Bill Kayong Award will be presented to five families in recognition of the sacrifices made by members who dedicated their lives to the party. Anwar is scheduled to conclude the congress with his winding-up speech tomorrow.
