Woman, 35, dies after husband allegedly sets her ablaze in Rajasthan: Police

A 35-year-old woman, Pooja, died after allegedly being set on fire by her husband, Sultan Ram, in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, according to police. Pooja suffered severe burns covering nearly 80% of her body and passed away while being transported to a higher medical facility in Bikaner for treatment. Her 40-year-old husband, Sultan Ram, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a district hospital.

The incident occurred around 2:30 am on Monday when Ram allegedly entered the house through the terrace, entered Pooja's bedroom, poured petrol over her, and set her ablaze. He fled the scene on a motorcycle. Pooja's family had been aware of frequent domestic disputes and assaults by Ram, who was suspected of having an extramarital affair.

Police recovered a five-liter petrol can from the crime scene. An attempt to murder case was registered upon Pooja's brother's initial complaint, which was later upgraded to a murder case following her death.
