‘We’ll do our best’ – Ajibade fires warning to South Africa ahead playoff clash

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has called on her team to move past their recent loss to Cameroon, according to the DAILY POST. Nigeria's failure to defeat the Indomitable Lionesses in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations resulted in them missing out on automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

However, the team still has a chance to qualify for the mini-tournament in Brazil through the inter-confederation playoffs. To achieve this, Nigeria must secure a win against South Africa's Banyana Banyana in their play-in clash. Ajibade emphasized the importance of overcoming the loss, stating, "What has happened has happened. There's nothing we can do about that.

We can't control it anymore. It's all about putting ourselves together and getting the loss behind us." She further added, "Being in the World Cup, honestly, in Nigeria, that is very important for us. So we'll do our best." The match between Nigeria and South Africa is scheduled to take place at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, with kick-off at 9pm.
