US could not verify Israeli warnings of Iran plots against Trump, sources say

Several warnings from Israel over the past year suggested that Iran intended to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to current and former U.S. officials. These intelligence reports, passed to U.S. intelligence agencies and relayed directly to White House officials, included possible sniper, knife, and missile threats against Trump during public events, particularly before the 2025 NATO summit in Turkey.

While the CIA assessed low confidence in some Israeli intelligence on these Iranian threats, the U.S. still took precautionary measures, including a deception operation during the Turkey trip. Despite the lack of verification, White House officials and the Secret Service moved Trump from Air Force One to another aircraft during the trip, demonstrating the level of concern over potential Iranian assassination plots against the President.
