U.P. teaching job aspirants to run social media campaign for recruitment

Teaching aspirants in Uttar Pradesh plan to launch a social media campaign on August 16 to push the State government to begin a recruitment drive for primary school teachers. The group claims the government has not conducted a significant primary-level teacher recruitment in over five years, leaving millions of eligible candidates waiting for appointments.

Vijay Pratap, an aspirant from Prayagraj, expressed frustration, stating that the government repeatedly promises recruitment but never follows through. The campaign aims to issue a recruitment notification and schedule within a specific timeframe. On X, the organizers hope to generate 10 million posts on August 16. The Prayagraj-based Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch and other education-related platforms are also supporting the initiative.

Aspirants have approached government officials, including the Basic Education Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, but have received no assurance. Adarsh Tiwari, a D.El.Ed holder, emphasized the long wait and lack of appointments, questioning the purpose of a D.El.Ed degree without employment. The Congress has backed the campaign, criticizing the BJP government for failing to provide employment opportunities for the youth.
