Two arrested after Muslim man dies following alleged assault by Kanwariyas

Hapur police have arrested two individuals, Lokesh and Shivam, in connection with the death of Mohd Azeem, who passed away in a Delhi hospital on August 4th. Azeem, a mini-truck driver from Moradabad, died four days after suffering injuries following an alleged assault by kanwariyas, a term referring to a group of Hindu pilgrims.

The assault supposedly occurred on July 31st near Shiva Dhaba in Garhmukhteshwar following a road accident involving Azeem's vehicle and an auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw was being driven by 19-year-old Mohd Farman and was carrying a group of kanwariyas. According to the FIR lodged in the matter, Azeem's father alleged that Farman and his associates assaulted his son following the collision.

Another FIR was filed by Mohd Imran, Farman's father, claiming that Azeem had deliberately rammed his vehicle into his son, causing his injuries. Both FIRs allege serious injuries sustained by Farman during the incident. Following Azeem's death, police announced the initiation of the closing process for the case registered against him, while continuing the investigation into the case concerning his death.
