Transfer: ‘I really don’t like this’ – Ben Foster laments as Arsenal allow big, influential star leave Emirates

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Ben Foster, has expressed his surprise and disapproval over Arsenal's recent decision to sell forward, Leandro Trossard. The 31-year-old Belgian player was a key figure in the Gunners' Premier League triumph last season, which marked their first league title since 2004. Trossard contributed impressively to Arsenal's success, participating in 31 league matches, starting 21 of them, and scoring six goals while providing six assists.

Since joining Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023, he had finished as runner-up in three consecutive campaigns before ultimately securing the title last season.

Despite Trossard's significant contributions and his record of 36 goals and 34 assists in 174 competitive matches for Arsenal, the club decided to transfer him to Turkish club, Besiktas, for a reported fee of £17 million this summer. This move has left Foster perplexed, as he told talkSPORT, “I don’t like the Trossard sale, I really don’t.

I think he’s such a significant, influential player for them and I can’t believe they’ve sold him.” The goalkeeper also commented on the club's recent acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, expressing his enthusiasm for the new signing: “Big signing, I like him a lot.” Trossard had one year left on his contract when he departed the Emirates Stadium, and he is now set to begin a new career in Turkey.
