South Korean newspapers reported on August 14 that the government plans to construct at least 230,000 new homes in the greater Seoul area, including Namyangju, to address the affordability crisis. The National Mortgage Fund will unlock 30 trillion won in mortgage loans to support these developments.

The Kyunghyang Shinmun highlighted that greenbelt restrictions will be lifted to supply 100,000 homes in the Seoul metropolitan area. Meanwhile, the Kookmin Daily reported that the government is acquiring land in a broader Seoul area to fulfill the housing targets.

Dong a Ilbo noted that at least 230,000 homes will be supplied in the greater Seoul area, including Namyangju and Yeomchang. The Seoul Shinmun added that construction on these projects will commence within three to four years. Seongye Times echoed these figures, stating that 230,000 more homes will be supplied in the broader Seoul area, with 20,000 of these located in Namyangju.

Chosun Ilbo echoed the 230,000 home target for the Seoul metropolitan area, including Namyangju. JoongAng Ilbo reported that 21,000 homes will be supplied in Namyangju, with the government aiming to secure additional land by the end of the year to construct a further 73,000 homes.

Hankyoreh echoed the 230,000 home goal for the broader Seoul area, while Hankook Ilbo reported that the government plans to supply 27,000 homes in Namyangju and surrounding areas, with a target of securing 73,000 more homes by year-end. Maeil Business Newspaper stated that South Korea will supply at least 230,000 homes in the greater Seoul area to unlock 30 trillion won in mortgage loans.
