State police: Presidency extends memorandum submission deadline

The Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill has extended the deadline for submitting memoranda and position papers on the proposed legislation. The extension, announced in a statement by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Presidential Working Group, is set to allow interested individuals, institutions, and organizations more time to provide substantive contributions to the legislation.

The proposed National Policing Bill aims to establish the necessary framework for an effective policing system that addresses Nigeria's evolving security needs while ensuring accountability, professionalism, and the protection of citizens' rights. The Working Group encourages stakeholders, including legal practitioners, civil society organizations, security sector professionals, state governments, professional bodies, academics, experts, and the general public, to submit their memoranda and position papers through the official National Policing Bill portal before the extended deadline of August 21, 2026.
