Singer Saint Janet complained of chest pain, died at hospital — Children

Children of the late Nigerian musician Saint Janet, whose real name was Iyun Janet Ajilore, have revealed that she complained of chest pain and experienced difficulty breathing before her death. According to their accounts, the singer had performed at a show in Sango, Ogun State the night before her passing and had appeared healthy before returning home.

The singer's daughter, Omowunmi, stated that after the show, they went home and slept, with Saint Janet performing her duties at home as usual. The next day, she went to the market and returned home at around 6pm. It was then that she began experiencing chest pain, as her daughter noticed her clutching her chest. Omowunmi said her mother's breathing became irregular and she asked to be taken to the hospital.

Her son, Orinayo, confirmed that she was admitted to the hospital immediately and lost her pulse shortly after. The mother of three daughters, Fola, arrived at the hospital too late to witness her mother's death. She described Saint Janet as a caring mother who ensured everyone around her was well-fed. The singer's manager also attested that she showed no signs of illness during her final performance.

The family has now set up a committee to manage her funeral arrangements, with a nine-day period of prayer and thanksgiving following her passing. Her funeral is scheduled for August 25 and 26.
