Seoul Botanic Park exhibition features rare water lilies, lotus flowers

Seoul Botanic Park is currently showcasing a two-month summer exhibition of aquatic plants, running until September. This unique display features rare and endangered native water lilies, alongside exotic giant species. The exhibition is spread across several key areas within the park, such as the Thematic Garden, Exhibition Glasshouse, Lake Garden, and Magok Cultural Center courtyard.

At the outdoor Thematic Garden, visitors can admire colorful temperate water lilies and fragrant lotus blossoms. These are complemented by flower-covered wooden boats, creating a serene and picturesque scene that evokes the style of French Impressionist painter Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny. Inside the tropical Exhibition Glasshouse, exotic international varieties of aquatic plants are displayed, showcasing vibrant colors like deep purple, electric blue, and crimson. These blooms grow high above the water surface on elevated stalks.

One of the main attractions of the exhibition is the rare prickly water lily. This species has been designated as a Class II Endangered Wild Species, making its presence in the exhibition particularly significant.
