In the second half, the game turned on its head at the 16th minute of extra time. Doué scored the winning goal after receiving a pass from Víctor Ortega in the 16th minute. Although offside at the time, the goal was upheld after a VAR review. Aston Villa had only managed to secure a Super Cup title 44 years after their first win in 1982, but their hopes have ended here.

PSG, having achieved a double of Champions League and Super Cup, starts the 2026-2027 season on a high note.
