Prosecutor details evidence behind convictions in murders of Quebec couple

Dominica's special prosecutor, Keith Scotland, has outlined the evidence behind the convictions of two American men in the murders of Quebec entrepreneur Daniel Langlois and his partner Dominique Marchand. The pair's bodies were discovered inside a charred vehicle in December 2023 near the luxury resort they owned on the Caribbean island.

Scotland stated that an extensive international investigation took place and led to the convictions of Jonathan Lehrer and Robert Thomas Snyder Jr. The trial lasted a month and saw more than 46 witnesses called. Additionally, the prosecution utilized various forms of evidence, including ballistics, DNA, and phone records.

Langlois was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and a ballistic report could not definitively rule out one of the accused, Jonathan Lehrer, as the source of the bullets. Scotland also noted that witness testimonies placed co-accused Robert Thomas Snyder Jr. near the site where gunshots were heard and subsequently near the road where the couple's burned vehicle was discovered.

Both Lehrer and Snyder have appealed their convictions and are set to be sentenced in September. Lehrer, a property owner in the United States, had been embroiled in a prolonged dispute with Langlois over access to the resort's roadways.
