Osun election do-or-die affair for APC – ADC alleges

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared the upcoming Osun state governorship election on August 15, 2026, as a do-or-die affair for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, made this claim during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ on Wednesday. Abdullahi stated that the "go and kill them" remark by Osun East Senatorial District lawmaker Francis Fadahunsi was not merely a metaphor.

The ADC highlighted a video where Fadahunsi was seen telling his supporters to kill any member of the Accord Party they encounter ahead of the gubernatorial polls in Osun. However, Fadahunsi later claimed that his words were taken out of context, emphasizing that he intended to defeat the Accord Party rather than kill its members.

In response to Fadahunsi's statement, the ADC spokesman argued that the Osun election is a do-or-die contest for the APC. He attributed the senator's remarks to President Tinubu's authorization, stating, "I don't blame the senator for saying what he said; I blame the president because he got his authorization from the president." Abdullahi further contended, "President Tinubu has said all is fair in politics, and that means you can kill, steal, or do whatever it takes to deliver victory."
