NCDMB urges oil firms to embrace digital portal for global competitiveness

The Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board has called on oil and gas industry stakeholders to adopt its new digital platform, emphasizing it as a significant step towards enhancing efficiency, transparency, innovation, and global competitiveness in the sector. At the unveiling of the portal in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Felix Ogbe, the NCDMB's Executive Secretary, emphasized the importance of collective adoption and engagement by industry players for the platform's success.

The event, organized in collaboration with the Bank of Industry and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, also included a technical session and an interactive panel discussion involving stakeholders from Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

Ogbe highlighted that compliance confirmation in the oil and gas industry has traditionally been handled manually, causing delays that often lasted for weeks. He explained that the new portal would expedite the process, making it simpler and more transparent. By digitising the system, the portal aims to reduce certificate processing time from weeks to days, enable online applications without physical visits or paperwork, and provide instant status updates, eliminating uncertainty.

Additionally, the portal will facilitate real-time compliance verification by regulators and serve as a single digital record trusted by investors and lenders.

The portal ensures that companies meeting obligations can quickly obtain certificates, unlock financing opportunities without delay, and channel resources into projects that foster job creation, capacity building, and the strengthening of Nigeria's oil and gas value chain. Ogbe emphasized that the platform signifies Nigeria's readiness to evolve its systems and become more efficient, transparent, and competitive on the global stage.

He encouraged all stakeholders to embrace the platform, underlining that its success depends on collective adoption and engagement.
