Monsoon Session fell victim to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘arrogance, indiscipline’, says BJP

On August 13, 2026, the BJP accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of arrogance and indiscipline, claiming he repeatedly disrupted Parliament during the Monsoon Session. Senior BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized the Leader of the Opposition, accusing him of "changing goalposts" by demanding Union Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation while turning down his offer for a debate on the issues raised by the Opposition.

Prasad also denounced Mr. Gandhi for his protest outside the Prime Minister's residence, stating that the Congress leader was aware of the sanctity and security implications of the residence due to his family's political lineage. He further accused Gandhi of disregarding the government's offer for a debate and turning down the offer without a valid reason.

Rejecting the Congress leader's allegations about the recent police action against protesting students, BJP leader Prasad claimed that the action was carried out according to established protocol and in consultation with magistrates and authorized police officers. He also criticized the Congress for disrupting Lok Sabha proceedings and pointed out that the BJP too shares the House, not just the BJP.

Moreover, Prasad highlighted the students' protests in Jharkhand, where Congress ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is in power, and claimed that Mr. Gandhi remained silent on the police action taken against protesters in that state.
