In a touching tribute, Messi posted on social media expressing his struggles with continuing his football career, saying, "I don't know what I'll do without you, I don't know how to go on."

Despite his father's death, Messi played a pivotal role in Inter Miami's match against LigaMX side Leon. Miami took an early lead, but Leon fought back with two goals from Colombian player Daniel Arcila, securing a 3-2 victory and advancing to the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup. This marks the first time Miami has been eliminated in the early stages of the tournament since its expansion in 2023.

Messi's teammates, including Yannick Bright and Casemiro, praised the captain's commitment to the team during such a difficult time. Bright stated, "It's a tough situation. We try to stay close to him and support him as much as we can, but it's a lot." Casemiro added, "He is an example for all of us in his dedication to playing through personal hardships."
