Mecca Agreement seen as foundation for regional order, analyst says

Political analyst Muneef Amash Al-Harbi asserts that the Mecca Agreement marks a genuine stride towards establishing a cohesive regional framework, enhanced by the prevailing circumstances. Speaking to Al Arabiya FM, Al-Harbi posited that the Mecca Agreement lays the groundwork for a regional order, emphasizing that the current environment has rendered it more robust and implementable.

The analyst recounted that since 1948, the Middle East has grappled with the lack of a stable regional system to guarantee stability, and he posited that the new pact could mitigate this deficit. Al-Harbi underscored that the Mecca Agreement should not be perceived as a divisive element within the Arab or Islamic realms, but rather as an addition to existing pacts and an escalation of endeavors to bolster regional collaboration.

He further noted that the agreement represents advancement compared to prior accords, highlighting that it encompasses diverse facets, thereby augmenting its capacity to tackle the region's predicaments and hurdles.
