You don’t build a house of God this way – Ayine criticises National Cathedral project

Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has expressed concerns over the construction of the National Cathedral, stating that the project should not have been handled in the manner it was. Dr Ayine argued that the funds invested in the controversial project could have been utilized more effectively elsewhere, such as in the completion of some hospitals under the Agenda 111 programme.

During a district launch of the Free Primary Health Care programme in Bolga East, he revealed that he had received a PwC report on the National Cathedral just last Friday, which prompted his assessment of the project. Dr Ayine lamented that the expenditure on the National Cathedral could have been better utilized, noting, “The monies spent on the National Cathedral from that Report could have been used to complete some Agenda 111 Hospitals.”

He made these remarks in the context of President John Dramani Mahama's two-day "Resetting Ghana Tour" of the Upper East Region, where he criticized the approach taken in the construction of the National Cathedral, saying, "You don't build a house of God in the manner in which they went about it."
