Logan Reilly goes overtime again in U.S. Amateur to be among 8 players to advance Merion

At the Merion golf course in Pennsylvania, Logan Reilly and Carter Loflin each lost a two-up lead with only two holes remaining, but they rebounded by winning their matches in extra holes. This allowed them to advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur tournament, which is now devoid of any players from the world's top 10 amateur rankings.

Reilly, a sophomore at Auburn, had previously won his first-round match in 19 holes, with another extra-hole victory to his credit. Loflin, a senior at Georgia, also secured his match through an extra hole, advancing against a high-ranked opponent.

Among the remaining players, Michael Lugiano, a junior at Liberty University, will join them. The Pennsylvania native has won all of his matches on the 18th hole, a notable achievement in a competition where the final eight participants will vie for spots in the U.S. Open next year, as well as the Masters and British Open, if he maintains his amateur status.
