Despite a strong showing from Scherzer, the Blue Jays lost 7-0 to the Red Sox, salvaging only a lone victory from their four-game series against Boston. Scherzer, who has been battling injuries throughout the season, acknowledged the impact of his performance on the team's outcome.

Despite the loss, the Blue Jays remain competitive and are inching closer to the American League's wild-card spot with an 11-6 record in their 17 games played.
