Kelana Jaya LRT services fully restored after power outage near University station

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — Kelana Jaya LRT services were restored to normal at 10.25am on August 13 after a power outage near the University station left a train stranded, Rapid KL reported. The disruption began around 9.28am, causing passengers on the affected train to be transferred to a rescue train, following established safety protocols.

"Passengers were safely transferred to a rescue train at the location before being taken to a nearby station," the rail operator stated. No injuries were reported, and the affected passengers continued their journeys on another train. Rapid KL explained that transferring passengers between trains is a standard safety procedure in such situations, carried out after a thorough assessment of the conditions at the location and confirmation by the operations team.

Alternative train services were activated temporarily to minimize the disruption's impact on commuters. The rail operator deployed its technical team to inspect and restore the affected system, with safety checks conducted before normal operations resumed. The involved train was removed from service and sent to the depot for further investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

Rapid KL expressed regret for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation during the disruption.
