Katsina United clarifies Ozor’s death report

Katsina United have issued an explanation regarding the medical emergency that claimed the life of their player, Chinedu Ozor, during a pre-season match. According to the club, Ozor collapsed during a friendly game against Niger Tornadoes at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death and the body was taken to the morgue.

However, medical personnel later noted that Ozor's body exhibited signs of movement, leading to his transfer back to the intensive care unit at Katsina General Hospital. Katsina United clarified that reports suggesting Ozor had regained consciousness were untrue. The club's statement expressed their sorrow and recognized the shock and hope of Ozor's family, who had hoped against hope for a miracle.

The incident has reignited debates about the level of medical readiness at football venues in Nigeria, following a similar tragedy a year prior when Shooting Stars assistant coach Akin Olowokere died during a training session.
