‘I am very relaxed’: Loke dismisses talk of final ministry assembly before DAP congress decision

On August 13, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook downplayed speculation that today could be his final monthly assembly with Transport Ministry staff ahead of the DAP's crucial vote on Sunday. When asked if today's ministry assembly could be his last, Loke firmly stated, "How do you think it is my last? I have never mentioned that."

Upon being inquired about his nerves ahead of the DAP special congress, Loke expressed relaxation. "I don't know why you ask such a question. I am very relaxed today. I am celebrating with my secretary-general for his birthday. So, after this, we have a birthday celebration for him. Thank you very much." The remarks were made three days before DAP delegates are set to vote on a motion that could decide the fate of the party's leaders in the federal government at the DAP's national congress on Sunday.

Loke's remarks follow a series of electoral losses for DAP and its coalition, Pakatan Harapan, including the party's complete loss of all eight seats it contested in the Sabah election last November, followed by consecutive defeats in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
