Senegal’s Ofnac to Publish Asset Declaration Lists from 10 August

The National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (Ofnac) in Senegal will publish provisional lists of elected officials who have complied or not with the asset declaration requirements from 10 August 2026. This marks a transition from a largely confidential system to one that publicly names those who fulfill and fail to meet the regulations, effective after the 31 July 2026 deadline.

The threshold for reporting has been lowered from 1 billion CFA francs to 500 million CFA francs, expanding the net of officials required to file. New categories, including prosecutors, local elected officials, and heads of state-owned companies, have been incorporated, broadening the scope of the obligation. Penalties for non-compliance have also been enhanced, with potential sentences ranging from six months to four years in prison, along with fines and disqualification from public office.

Ofnac maintains that the confidential nature of the declarations remains intact, despite their public dissemination. The move underscores President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's commitment to anti-corruption measures, particularly following a surge in late submissions in August 2026 that raised compliance to nearly 56% of the 3,023 people subject to the obligation.
