Highlights from Texas A&M's seventh preseason practice

Texas A&M's seventh preseason practice on Thursday offered a glimpse into the progress of several key players, with the 2026 season opener against Missouri State just 23 days away. Coach Mike Elko's third year has seen him make significant moves, including elevating WR coach Holmon Wiggins to the role of offensive coordinator, promoting Lyle Hemphill to defensive coordinator, and adding 17 transfer players who have impressed since joining the team.

On Tuesday, Wiggins and Hemphill addressed the media, with Wiggins making his coaching debut and Hemphill continuing to work with the secondary and address mechanical issues, particularly in the rushing defense.

Edge Anto Saka, Northwestern transfer KJ Edwards, and junior wide receiver Terry Bussey have consistently impressed in the recent practices, with Bussey likely competing for the No. 3 or 4 wide receiver spot. Following a season-ending knee surgery, wide receiver Jerome Myles is showing great improvement, no longer requiring a knee brace. Running back Rueben Owens II has continued to make strides, and EDGE Marco Jones is on the right path for the upcoming season.
