Ghana staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Ivory Coast 2-1 in a Women's Africa Cup of Nations match, maintaining their aspirations for a Women's World Cup qualification spot. The game took place in Casablanca, Morocco, with the two teams battling it out for one of the last two African spots to advance to the intercontinental playoffs for next year's tournament in Brazil. Ivory Coast took an early lead, with Princess Marfo receiving a penalty in the first minute after a foul on Bernadette Amani. Inès Konan calmly converted the spot-kick to give Ivory Coast the lead. Ghana had an early equalizing opportunity through Stella Nyamekye, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review confirmed that goalkeeper Océane Lamfir still had possession of the ball.

Ghana equalized shortly before halftime, with Evelyn Badu scoring from a rebound after Lamfir was ruled to have controlled the ball. The decisive goal came in the 72nd minute when Josephine Bonsu converted a penalty after Aboa Yapo was penalized for handball, again confirmed by VAR after a shot from Grace Asantewaa struck her arm.
