France's Manaudou, Olympic 50m freestyle champion, retires at 35

Paris, August 13 - French swimmer Florent Manaudou, the Olympic champion in the 50m freestyle from 2012, has announced his retirement from the sport on Saturday at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. Speaking to France TV on Thursday, the 35-year-old revealed his decision, noting that he had not competed since the 2024 Paris Games, where he secured bronze in his signature event.

Manaudou, one of France's most accomplished swimmers, will be retiring with six Olympic medals, including gold, three silvers, and two bronzes accumulated over four Games. Born into a family of swimmers, he is the younger brother of the 2004 Olympic champion Laure Manaudou and has won multiple World Championship titles.
