Body of missing Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi recovered on Broad Peak

The body of Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi, who was part of the missing 10-person expedition on Broad Peak, has been recovered and transported to the mountain's base camp, according to the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) on Thursday. The avalanche that struck on July 30 severed communication with the international team led by renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja.

Purja, who had previously set numerous climbing records, confirmed there were no survivors among the group. While seven bodies were found, the search for Sakhi, Sarah Mallory Geis from America, and Nawang Thindu Sherpa from Nepal was halted last week due to the heightened risk of new avalanches. On Thursday, ACP member Naila Kiani revealed that Sakhi's remains were discovered by a team of local volunteers from Shigar.

The volunteers found the body first and quickly alerted others, leading to the body being brought down from Camp 1 to the base camp. The bodies of two remaining climbers have not yet been recovered, with rescue efforts scheduled to resume once weather conditions improve and the area is deemed safe.
