Biology remarking makes DSE student one of Hong Kong’s 25 top scorers

An 18-year-old Form Six student named Sunny Sun Wat-ching has become one of Hong Kong's top achievers in this year's university entrance exams. Her biology grade was upgraded after she requested a remark, earning her a perfect score alongside 24 other students from 16 schools. Sunny originally scored Level 5 in all subjects except biology, where she consistently topped her class.

She had even been surprised by her high scores in other subjects, including Chinese language, English language, mathematics, chemistry, biology, history, and citizenship and social development. Sunny is also classified as a "super top scorer" as she took the extended mathematics module. Apart from her academic success, Sunny has been involved in various extracurricular activities, such as leading her school's student association and serving on the flag guard.

Her study strategy involved reading aloud to enhance her memory, which she credits to her English-speaking skills gained from participating in her school's debate team. Sunny attributes her academic achievements to the self-discipline instilled in her by a primary school teacher, who emphasized the importance of personal responsibility for studies and homework.

Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Sunny consistently ranked first in her year group from Form One through Form Three. This consistent excellence has been recognized in the "best devotion to school" category at the 2024-25 Student of the Year Awards.
