Belarus Agrees to Promote Agri Trade With Pakistan

Pakistan and Belarus have reached an agreement to boost their agricultural trade in digital formats. This was discussed during a meeting between Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research from Pakistan, and Yakovchits Aleksander, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food from Belarus. The collaboration aims to connect businesses from both nations through online sessions, potentially leading to new commercial prospects.

The focus includes seafood, citrus fruits, mangoes, fruit puree, potatoes, seeds, and dairy products. Both countries also agreed to encourage participation in food exhibitions and agricultural trade fairs, which will enable businesses to exhibit their products, discover new partners, and expand their trade. Furthermore, they will assist agricultural business and trade delegations in visiting each other's countries to explore opportunities for partnerships, investments, and technical cooperation.

The talks also included an agreement to exchange technology, expertise, and best practices in fish farming, with the aim of advancing modern aquaculture. Pakistan suggested setting up an agricultural machinery testing center in Pakistan, with Belarus providing financial and technical support. The feasibility of this plan will be evaluated, including the necessary equipment and possible locations.

Technical expert groups from both nations are expected to exchange visits by the end of 2026 as part of this assessment. Rana Tanveer expressed Pakistan's intent to transform this cooperation into tangible commercial and technological advantages for businesses, farmers, and investors, particularly in agriculture and food security.
