Barcelona agree to sell Torres to PSG

Madrid: Barcelona have reached an agreement to sell their World Cup hero Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for nearly 50 million euros, Spanish media reported on Thursday. The two top clubs have reportedly agreed on the terms of a five-year contract for the 26-year-old forward, with the remaining paperwork and medical checks expected to be completed shortly.

Torres, who signed with Barcelona in 2021 from Manchester City for over 55 million euros, has been utilized as a center-forward, supporting the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, since the arrival of Hansi Flick as Barcelona's coach in the summer of 2024. The 26-year-old has proven his worth, scoring 40 goals in 94 matches across all competitions over the past two seasons, often being a game-changer as a substitute.

His impressive finish saw him score the winning goal for Spain in the extra-time final against Argentina, contributing to their second World Cup victory. Torres' departure will undoubtedly force Hansi Flick to seek additional attacking options, as Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford have already departed from the club. Barcelona have already signed new forwards Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund in recent transfers.
