Asyraf nafi kaitan dengan pelaburan bermasalah TH dalam Al-Rawda

Umno Deputy President Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has vehemently denied any association with the financial mismanagement issues at Tabung Haji (TH) during his tenure as acting Minister of Religious Affairs. Despite being present at the signing ceremony in 2017, Asyraf claimed he had no voting power in TH's decisions, even though he was photographed with Tabung Haji's Chief Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and others involved in a 10-year bond agreement with Al-Rawda Real Estate Development and Project Management Co Ltd on Facebook.

During a session discussing the RCI's report on TH at the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, Amir Hamzah Azizan, Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Finance II, stated that the RCI's investigation from 2014 to 2020 found that seven out of the 14 TH investment ventures from that period resulted in a total loss. Amir highlighted that the largest loss was due to TH's investment in Al-Rawda, a Saudi-based real estate and project management company.

Asyraf expressed his anger at being unfairly linked to TH's issues in a social media post, condemning attempts to tarnish and ruin his reputation. He clarified that he was appointed as the head of Malaysia's hajj committee in 2017 to replace the minister, as he was in Makkah at the time and was summoned to represent the minister at the meeting. Asyraf reiterated that a deputy minister has no authority to interfere in TH's operations or approval processes, which are overseen by the CEO, management, and board of Al-Rawda.
