After 18 months, Bidar police arrest two key accused in ATM robbery-cum-murder case

In a significant development, the Bidar police have apprehended two key accused in Bihar following an 18-month long chase, in connection with a brazen ATM robbery-cum-murder case that stunned the state. The arrested suspects, identified as Aman Kumar Singh and Alok Kumar, were taken into custody near Dhamodar village in Vaishali district, Bihar, after a relentless pursuit and a well-coordinated police operation.

The arrests occurred on Wednesday, August 12, marking nearly 18 months since the heinous crime took place. The police had reportedly received crucial information about the suspects around 20 days ago and have been closely monitoring their movements ever since. A special operation, led by Bidar Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti, culminated in the arrests, with the accused being taken to Bidar for further investigation.

The Bidar police successfully apprehended the accused without seeking assistance from any other state's police force. The robbery occurred in broad daylight on January 16, 2025, near the SBI bank in the heart of Bidar city, when armed robbers arrived on motorcycles and attacked employees of CMS Agency, fleeing with around ₹83 lakh in cash.

Tragically, during the attack, Giri Venkatesh was killed on the spot, while another employee, Shivakumar Gunnalli, sustained serious injuries. The Bidar police have been diligently investigating the case since the incident, and the arrest of the two accused is expected to provide a significant lead in the investigation.
