ADC alleges plot to arrest Aregbesola, warns FG

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned the Federal Government and security agencies against any attempt to arrest the party's National Secretary, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, ahead of the upcoming Osun State governorship election. The opposition party claims it has received credible information about plans to arrest Aregbesola in the days leading up to the election, potentially increasing political tension in the state.

ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, issued a statement expressing concern over what they described as a pattern of intimidation, harassment, and misuse of state institutions against opposition figures. They urged the government to exercise restraint and avoid any actions that could disrupt the electoral process or undermine public confidence in the election.

ADC emphasized that if Aregbesola were to be arrested, it should follow established legal procedures rather than being arrested on the eve of the election, which would be perceived as politically motivated. The party cautioned that such an action could create the impression that the purpose was to prevent Aregbesola from performing his responsibilities as a senior official of the opposition party.
