7 killed as mining pit collapses in Plateau community

Seven miners tragically lost their lives after a mining pit collapsed in Kassa community of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, on Wednesday evening. Eyewitnesses reported that several others were injured during the incident, which occurred while the miners were engaged in their work at the site. Albert Danlami, a local resident, described the collapse as "devastating" and said it happened around 7pm, trapping the miners underground.

The AG Mortgage Bank's N3.97bn commercial paper, which was fully subscribed, was reportedly involved in an alleged incident of bridge vandalism in Kano. Following the collapse, residents and other miners rushed to the mining site to recover the victims. Rwang Tengwong, the Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, confirmed that seven miners had died in the incident, and rescue efforts were unsuccessful as the bodies were found dead.

Mining pits collapsing has resulted in numerous fatalities in various mining communities across Barkin Ladi, Jos South, Riyom, and other Local Government Areas.
