Iranian press review: Tehran says it will no longer wait to be attacked

Iranian military commanders and politicians are now advocating for a shift in military doctrine, moving from a purely defensive stance to an offensive one against US forces in the Middle East. This change has been emphasized by the appointment of six new military commanders by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who replaced those killed during a recent war with Israel and the US.

Brigadier General Alireza Sheikh, deputy commander of the army, explained this new approach to the media, citing recent attacks on Kurdish opposition groups as an example of this strategy. Meanwhile, conservative groups in Iran are demanding full control over the Strait of Hormuz, with the principlist mayor of Tehran, Alireza Zakani, emphasizing the need to halt talks with the US and use the strait as a weapon against Washington and its allies.

Some analysts have compared Iran's current situation to the final days of the Iran-Iraq war in 1988, when Iran accepted a UN resolution to end the conflict.
