YEA to migrate personnel on public sector salary structure – CEO

Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, has assured improved conditions of service for the Agency's staff. He explained that the YEA was working with the government to integrate personnel into the public sector wage system, which would result in enhanced salaries. During his tour in the Bono East Region, Basintale highlighted the Agency's commitment to ensuring fair wages and public salary increments for its personnel.

Basintale assured personnel of the Agency that they, too, are public service workers and should benefit from fair wages, deserving promotions, and public salary increments. He also announced that contract personnel, including those on the Agency's models, would be included in the migration process. The Agency has provided job opportunities within its 12 traditional models, with its Ambulance Service model alone engaging over 6,000 community first response personnel.

Additionally, the Agency has engaged 600 young people through the labour exchange programme, creating job opportunities for more than 90,000 youth nationwide.

The CEO emphasized the need for collaboration between the Agency and various government agencies, such as the Narcotics Control Commission, Ghana Health Service, and Ghana Education Service, in addressing substance abuse in schools. Basintale also presented startup kits to beneficiaries of the Agency's employable skills training models to help them start their own businesses.

The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, praised the government's commitment to job creation through employable skills training and encouraged unemployed youth to take advantage of YEA training models to secure decent jobs and improve their livelihoods.
