Perak DAP votes unanimously to stay in unity govt

The Perak DAP party has unanimously decided to stay in the unity government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for the remainder of the parliamentary term. This decision was made after a special congress where 4,264 delegates gathered to discuss the party's future. Perak DAP highlighted Anwar's leadership for successfully implementing reforms over the past three years and improving Malaysia's global reputation.

They emphasized that remaining in the government allows them to continue working on the Pakatan Harapan manifesto, which includes reforms in various sectors such as judicial independence, efforts to combat corruption, reducing the cost of living, and safeguarding the rights of Malaysia's multiracial society. The state chapter stressed that staying in the government is crucial to prevent extremist forces from gaining more ground and to protect Malaysia's inclusive and progressive multiracial society.

They argued that political instability over the past seven years, including four changes in prime ministers, has negatively impacted the economy and investor confidence, an experience they did not wish to repeat. The Perak DAP stated that their responsibility is to fulfill the people's mandate and maintain political stability while demonstrating achievements and regaining the people's confidence. The decision to remain in the unity government will be confirmed by the delegates at the congress.
