Why Tulsa National Little League team was disqualified from LLWS

On Monday, Tulsa National Little League was disqualified from the Little League World Series after three other leagues filed a joint protest against the team. This decision came just weeks after Tulsa National Little League was already disqualified for similar reasons. The Little League International Tournament Committee ruled that Tulsa had an ineligible player participate in the Southwest Regional and therefore disqualified the team.

They declared Oklahoma's victory over Louisiana in the semifinals as a forfeit, allowing Louisiana to advance to the finals where they faced Texas West to qualify for the Little League World Series. Texas West, with Boerne Little League, won that game.

The committee did not disclose specific details about Tulsa's violations, but the protest filed on Sunday accused the league of multiple rule violations, including fraudulent use of the Challenger Division for players with physical or intellectual disabilities. There were questions about whether the player Tulsa allegedly used would even qualify for the Challenger program.

The league's eligibility rules require players participating at the Major level to have amateur status and participate in eight regular-season games by the beginning of the International Tournament. The disqualification of Tulsa comes just three weeks after the softball team was similarly booted from the tournament for an ineligible player.

A court order was issued reinstating Tulsa's eligibility, but Little League International filed an emergency motion to dissolve the temporary restraining order, leading to its vacating and effectively ending Tulsa's chances at regaining eligibility. Boerne Little League, representing Texas West, will not be participating in the regional championship game and is preparing for the World Series instead.
