Wanita mengaku salah anjur kutu lebih RM1.7 juta

36-year-old woman Siti Zulaika Ahmad Sabri has confessed in Alor Setar Sessions Court of orchestrating an online lottery scam involving 52 individuals, reportedly accumulating a sum exceeding RM1.7 million since the previous year. Her admission was made before Judge Sharmila Abdul Samad, with sentencing yet to be determined as the court awaits the presentation of evidence on September 22.

According to the charges, Siti is accused of promoting the lottery scheme alongside 52 individuals, with each participant required to pay cash. This alleged misconduct allegedly took place between July 2025 and July 2024 at a residence in Kampung Padang Satu, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Changlun. The offense is charged under Section 3 of the Prevention of Lottery Act 1971 (Act 28), which, if proven guilty, can result in a maximum of 10 years imprisonment or a fine of up to RM500,000, or both.

The case is being handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Fahmi Kamaluddin and Vatchira Wong Rui Fern, while Siti is unrepresented by a lawyer. Judge Sharmila did not grant any bail, even though Fahmi offered RM100,000 for bail and submitted travel documents, including a passport. Notably, Siti also made no appeal against her bail, and she will be detained at Penjara Pokok Sena pending further proceedings.

On August 4, three children from Taman Desa Bayanmas, Bukit Kayu Hitam, were reported missing since July 20, allegedly due to debts incurred from playing online lottery games promoted by the woman, who is accused of acting as the "lottery mommy." Two days later, the 39-year-old man and the 36-year-old woman surrendered at Kubang Pasu Police Station.
