UAE donates relief items worth over GH¢12m to June 29 flood victims

The United Arab Emirates has contributed relief materials worth over GH₵12 million to aid communities impacted by the June 29 floods in Ghana. The donation comprised food supplies, rice, drinking water, blankets, and sleeping mattresses, presented at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) headquarters in Accra. A symbolic distribution followed, provided to flood-affected residents in the Circle enclave.

At the NADMO warehouse, the relief materials were prepared for distribution to affected communities. Procured locally, the aid included 13,000 food boxes, 20,000 rice packages, 10,000 cartons of bottled water, more than 8,000 blankets, and more than 5,000 sleeping mattresses. The donation followed President John Dramani Mahama's approval of the Climate Emergency Resource Mobilisation Track to mobilize international partnerships for immediate relief, recovery, and long-term climate resilience.

The UAE's intervention aimed to support the Government's response and assist affected families. UAE Ambassador Dr Abdulla Al Mandoos pledged continued support and expressed sympathy to affected families.
