Trump reiterates U.S. has 'total' control of Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on August 12 that the United States holds total control over the Strait of Hormuz and will maintain it, as uncertainty persists over the strait's full reopening amid Iran's calls for meeting Washington's demands. The remarks came in a social media post following reports of progress in negotiations between Iran and Oman over shipping lanes in the strategic waterway, a key route for oil, natural gas, fertilizer, and other commodities that Iran effectively closed during the Middle East war.

Trump emphasized that the U.S. has "total control over the Strait of Hormuz" and predicted they would "keep it," describing the waterway as an "A WALL OF STEEL" against Iran. He added that Iran has "no Navy, they have no Air Force, their remaining soldiers are unpaid, the IRGC is decimated and fleeing, and their Leadership is uncertain, at best!"

Trump further stated that Iran has "No Money," "a country shot," and is facing "300 percent INFLATION, and getting worse!" He concluded by asserting that Iran is "all talk and no action, the Bully of the Middle East No Longer."
