Terrorist surrenders rise 213% in one week — Military

The Nigerian military has seen a 213% increase in the number of terrorist fighters and associates surrendering in the North East within a week, according to a report. The surge in surrenders occurred after ongoing military operations under Operation HADIN KAI aimed at weakening terrorist capabilities and disrupting their logistics.

Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, stated that the uptick in surrenders reflected a growing willingness among militants to abandon activities and submit to surrender procedures. Two high-profile terrorists also surrendered on Wednesday, handing over weapons and ammunition, further indicating the impact of sustained military pressure.

Goni emphasized that the rising number of surrenders demonstrates the effectiveness of the multi-dimensional approach, including ground actions, engagements, and disruption of terrorist supply routes. The Theatre Command urged the public to provide information and encouraged terrorists to abandon violence and surrender.
