Jeddah leads Red Sea coastal tourism for summer 2026

Jeddah is poised to become the leading coastal destination in the Red Sea region during the summer of 2026. The city is set to offer an array of attractions, including diverse beaches, islands, and an extensive range of water sports and leisure activities. Jeddah's appeal lies in its robust infrastructure, encompassing 13 beaches and marine sites, backed by 34 field supervisors and 66 lifeguards, to ensure a safe and enjoyable visitor experience.

The city's water sports and marine experiences include four activities, complemented by boat trips to nearby islands and coral reefs, promising a blend of entertainment, sports, and natural beauty.

The Saudi Red Sea Authority is actively involved in the development and regulation of coastal tourism activities through well-defined frameworks and licensing, which enhances the quality and safety of marine experiences. Bayada Island, situated off Jeddah's coast, has emerged as a key marine destination this season, thanks to its clear waters and vibrant marine environment. It offers a mix of relaxation, water activities, and opportunities to explore marine life.

The allure of marine experiences extends south along the Makkah region’s coast, with notable destinations like the “Four Sisters” islands in Al-Lith. This area is a top choice for diving enthusiasts and professionals, thanks to its rich coral reefs and diverse marine habitats.

The growth of cruise tourism, particularly the Aroya Cruises departing from Jeddah Islamic Port, has further strengthened Jeddah's position as a major gateway to Red Sea coastal destinations. Jeddah Islamic Port's strategic location plays a pivotal role in this growth, while the expanding marine tourism sector adds a new dimension to visitor flows, enhancing integration between tourism, transport, hospitality, and entertainment sectors.

These developments are part of Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to expand the tourism sector and capitalize on the Red Sea's competitive advantages, in line with the Vision 2030 goals. The aim is to boost the sector's contribution to the national economy and improve the overall quality of life.
