사관학교 총동창회 “정부, 현 체제 유지도 검토”…국방부 “사실 아냐”

Defense Minister Ahn Gu-yeb had a meeting with the C-in-C of the three military academies - Army, Navy, and Air Force - at the South Korean Defense Ministry on December 12. The C-in-Cs of the three academies, namely Army, Navy, and Air Force, attended the meeting. Following the meeting, the three C-in-Cs claimed that Defense Minister Ahn Gu-yeb had promised to review the education reform while maintaining the current system of the military academies.

However, the Defense Ministry denied these claims, stating that "this is not true." Instead, they said that Defense Minister Ahn Gu-yeb had listened to various opinions while the military academies were being established. The C-in-Cs of the three academies expressed their concerns and requested a review of the process, which had been delayed for several reasons.

The C-in-Cs asked for a clear position from the Defense Minister regarding the need for a review of the current system and the necessity of the March 26th public hearing on the military academy integration. The Defense Ministry stated that they are listening to various opinions and will establish and announce the detailed plan for the establishment of the military academies in October.
