Screenwriter Pavel Tetersky leaves Russia after terrorism accusation, 12-day arrest

Screenwriter Pavel Tetersky has fled Russia following a terrorism accusation and 12 days in administrative arrest, according to his lawyer Oskar Cherdzhiev. The incident occurred after Tetersky was detained on July 31 at Khimki Court in Moscow, where he was held for 12 days on an administrative charge of petty hooliganism. The charge stemmed from an incident on July 30 when Tetersky allegedly kicked trash cans while drunk.

Cherdzhiev claims the accusation against Tetersky was fabricated. Prior to his arrest, security personnel conducted an inspection of Tetersky's home, during which they searched his apartment for hours, looking for evidence of terrorist activities. Cherdzhiev states that no illegal items were found during the search. During the search, Tetersky alleges that security officers attempted to accuse him of "actions of a terrorist nature" and forced him to make a video promise not to commit crimes against Russia's security.

Tetersky and Cherdzhiev believe the security officers were overly zealous and arrested the wrong person. Tetersky is a well-known Russian screenwriter who has worked on several films and television series, including the adaptations of his novel "Bolshe Bena" and the television series "Khoroshy chelovek."
