Jeddah officials review preparations for Gulf Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027

Jeddah's municipal and sports officials convened on September 14 to evaluate the readiness for hosting the 2026 Arabian Gulf Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. The discussion centered on organizational and logistical aspects, alongside the necessary facilities and services for both tournaments. Mayor Ihsan bin Abbas Bafakih and representatives from the Ministry of Sports were among those present.

The meeting assessed the progress of planning and operational strategies, including finalized readiness documents. Discussions encompassed infrastructure needs, venue facilities, services, and joint efforts between the municipality and authorities to meet all criteria according to established standards. The review also encompassed stadium and training ground preparedness, hotel accommodations, and support services, as well as fan zone proposals in Jeddah and logistics for a seamless experience for participants and spectators.

This meeting is part of ongoing cooperation aimed at fulfilling all requirements for the major football events and overseeing the readiness of venues and services in Jeddah. The 2026 Arabian Gulf Cup is scheduled to be held in Jeddah from September 23 to October 6, 2026, while the 2027 AFC Asian Cup will feature games in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Alkhobar from January 7 to February 5, 2027.
